Svenskt Tenn
Svenskt Tenn (‘Swedish Pewter’) is a Swedish interior design company, founded in 1924 in Stockholm by Estrid Ericson, an art teacher and pewter artist from Hjo, Sweden.
In 1932, Ericson ordered the first furniture designs from the already well-established Austrian architect Josef Frank.
Two years later, she hired Frank after he fled the burgeoning Nazism in Austria for Sweden together with his Swedish wife Anna. Estrid Ericson and Josef Frank remained not only lifelong friends but also one of Swedish design history’s most interesting partnerships.
In the spring of 2019, Luke was commissioned by Svenskt Tenn’s Marketing and Creative Director Thommy Bindefeld to hand-paint a limited selection of Svenskt Tenn cushions, lamp shades and bags. Alongside these items, Luke created a small collection of new pattern designs, entitled Endymion, which Svenskt Tenn printed onto cushions and trays.

The collaboration was launched with an installation of furniture and accessories curated by Luke inside Svenskt Tenn’s famous shop on Strandvägen in Stockholm.
Since 1928, Svenskt Tenn has been appointed as a royal warrant. Today, it is owned by the Kjell and Märta Beijer Foundation and all profit generated is donated to research in areas such as environmental sustainability, genetics, biomedicine and pharmaceuticals.
